About Deb Tucker

Deb has been an avid quilt maker since 1981 and a quilting instructor since 1983. She worked as the pattern editor for Quilting Today and Traditional Quiltworks magazines for several years and was one of the cofounders of Traditional Quiltworks magazine. She has taught, lectured and judged extensively throughout the New England and Mid-Atlantic states including the Vermont Quilt Festival and the Fletcher Farm School for the Arts and Crafts. She has had a large number of projects published in books and magazines and continues to do free lance designing for several international quilting magazines. She is an enthusiastic, knowledgeable instructor with much to offer all levels of quiltmakers.

About Mother and Daughter Quiltworks

Janet Allen and Ann Jones - A wonderful joining of two women who have spent the better part of their lives teaching people the art of traditional quilt making. Janet opened her first quilt shop in 1979 in Sanford, Maine and later moved it to Alfred at The Jordan House Inn. For many years she was involved in local state and New England Guilds. Ann joined her mother in the 1980's and together formed The Quiltworks, teaching and running retreats throughout Maine. Both have many women who are always looking for guidance, fun classes and new projects. Come join them in October in Rangeley at Quilt Camp.

Quilt Camp Course Descriptions

Oak Ridge Stars
October 14, 15 & 16, 2008
OR
October 17, 18 & 19, 2008

$455pp/do   $515/sgl   $355/commuter

A spectacular pieced quilt that is simple to make. The blocks, pieced sashing and pieced borders are all constructed with the help of Deb's "Tucker Trimmer" tool. Students will learn how to assemble perfect combination units and hourglass units into blocks and sashing and then easily construct the pieced border to surround the central design. There will be two size options available - medium/twin size and large/queen size. Purchase of the "Tucker Trimmer" tool required. Suitable to those with prior rotary cutting and machine piecing skills (confident beginner and beyond).

Circle A Round
October 14, 15 & 16, 2008
OR
October 17, 18 & 19, 2008

$455pp/do   $515/sgl   $355/commuter

A great class for those who are ready to "get out of the box" or at least out of the blocks! This course is designed to take students into the world of creative, non-traditional piecework. Students will plan and assemble a wall hanging size project that will have each making fabric placement decisions "on the spot". The quilt will take it's own path with a bit of guidance from Deb and others in the class. Instructions will be given on cutting and sewing techniques as well as on elements of design. Each student can expect to produce at least one project and possibly more during the course. Recommended for those with sound piecing skills and an adventuresome spirit. Purchase of the "Circle-A-Round" ruler is required, accompanying book is optional. Both can be ordered in advance or purchased during the workshop.
